Carnival!
Hi everyone! As all of you may know, the Carnival is coming up this Thursday! On the post below is the Carnival map which shows all the different tables and booths which will be present (click on the picture to get a bigger image). The entrance to the Carnival will be located on the West side of the building (near the main entrance) and everyone who comes in gets 10 free tickets and will have their hand stamped. All booths cost 2 tickets, and for all games, winners will recieve 4 tickets. The Awareness Project will be having a Bake Sale whose funds will be donated to the National Organization for Women (NOW), which is an organization that has been taking action for women's equality since 1966. At the Pie in the Face table, put in a quarter or any amount of money in for an E-Board member, Ms.Becker, or Mr.Weeks so they might pied in the face! Anyone who puts in any amout of money will recieve a ticket which will be put in a raffle so they might have the chance to pie one of the three winners! At 4:30, the three Student Council members who have the most money in their envelope at the Pie in the Face Table will get pied in the face! The Carnival will start at 3:00 and will end at 4:25. We hope to see all of you there! =)

Spirit Week details!
Hey everyone! Thanks to everyone who voted so far- spread the word to your friends and tell them to vote as well! Here are some extra details for the upcoming Spirit Week:
Monday, Feb. 13th- Pajama Day: the only day you have to pay throughout this week and it's just $1. Please remember that we are still in school so remember to follow the proper ND guidelines throughout this week (no shorts girls, sorry!)
Tuesday, Feb. 14th- Twin Tuesday: team up with your friends and wear matching outfits- triplets, quadruplets, etc. are allowed! since it is Valentine's Day, come to Room 303 after school where we will be playing the most popular romantic movie of all time... "The Notebook". Speaking of Valentine's Day, thanks to all the members of Student Council who helped create hearts to decorate our tree, a picture will soon be posted, it looks great!
Wednesday, Feb. 15th- Color Wars: the color assignments are listed for each class in the post below. Go all out and dress up in the color assigned to your grade! A small competition will be going on between homerooms. A HR rep will be assigned to make sure a picture is taken of their homeroom for Color Wars. All the pictures will then be posted up here on the blog and students can then vote on the side for which HR they think has the best school spirit! Be creative and have fun with it, just remember to dress in your assigned color!
The Seniors Vs. Faculty Basketball Game will be after school that Wednesday! We will have a short pep rally at 3:10 to get pumped for the game and it will be led by our "spirit coordinator" treasurer Michelle Driscoll! We hope to get the game started by 3.25. Chairs and space will be set up for those who wish to watch the game and seniors get to sit on the stage. Seniors, if you have not signed up yet please contact me or a HR rep as soon as possible.
Thursday, Feb. 16th- Blast from the Past: dress according to any past decade! Some ideas might be a flapper from the 20s or hippie from the 60s/70s. Celebrities from past decades are also welcome!
Friday, Feb 17th- Anne's Leaders Play: the morning will start off with a play written and performed by the juniors about our founder, Anne DeXainctonge's life, and a play written and performed by the seniors about the values of Anne. We will go back to homeroom right after and then leave to go to Chelsea Piers to ice skate! Please remember to bring in your permission slip or you'll have to stay in school!

December Updates!!
Trees: Hey ND girls! If you haven't seen the lunchroom already, there are two trees painted on the wall-- these were painted by Student Council with awesome help from Ms.Becker and Mr.Weeks! They were painted to make the lunchroom look less gloomy but mainly to celebrate Notre Dame's 100th year. There are also 100 snowflakes up to enforce this 100 year celebration idea, and look forward for Valentine's day and so many other holidays and seasons! Thanks to all the Student council members that contributed to this great idea and helped carry it out!
Coat Drive: Please look through your closets for any old or new coats! There is a big box when you go to the Mezzanine to donate your coats. If your parents would like a receipt for their tax returns, please let your HR rep know so they can write your name down. The coats can be any size, and they will go to the New York Cares Coat Drive. You can get more info here: http://newyorkcares.org/volunteer/holiday_volunteering/coat_drive/index.php
Memorabilia: more exciting news! Notre Dame now has their own memorabilia page here: http://www.prepsportswear.com/school/us/New_York/New_York/Notre-Dame-School-Dragons.aspx?schoolid=2605982 You can customize any kind of shirt, sleeping wear, hat, etc. on here to show off your ND spirit! It'll be a great Christmas present to any of your friends at ND!
Christmas grams: Also look forward to buy a Christmas gram this week which will be sold during lunch periods by Student Council! It's $1 for a gram, and 3 for $2. There will be supplies there to decorate the gram and they will be delivered on the 21st during HR with a candy cane!
Remember that the Christmas Concert is this Thursday on the 15th at 6pm! E-board has also planned to make another video this Tuesday, so look forward to that as well! Thanks for all your support ND girls, and remember that you can comment on here, or leave a suggestion in the suggestion box in HR! =)

First Full Student Council Meeting!
The first full meeting was a great success! Thanks to all of the members for all of your awesome input. Here are some of the topics we discussed:
Halloween Assembly: The assembly this year is on a Monday (10/31 of course!) and like always there will be a Costume Contest. This year there will be two separate contests- one that is solely based on costume (we will just announce your costume and you get right up on stage). And the second is based on a skit and costume. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners and they will all get N.U.T. (No Uniform Today) cards and goody bags!
Pumpkin Decoarting: Thanks to an awesome HR rep who suggested that each homeroom should decorate a pumpkin! We are still trying to finalize the dates but start thinking of great ideas and look forward to decorating a pumpkin with your homeroom and entering in a contest that will be judged by the Student Council E-Board!
Finally, new suggestion boxes will be in homerooms by next week and we are planning to create another video to go in depth and inform all of you of new updates! Remember to leave a comment or question! Thanks! =)

ND Dragons win the Volleyball Game!
Also a shout out to the ND Dragons Volleyball team who won our first home game 2-0 this past Friday!!! Congratulations girls and keep up the great work! =)
Halloween Assembly Questions
Student Council has been receiving different questions about the new setup for the Costume Contest for the Halloween Assembly. Just to verify, students will still be able to do skits/small performances this year, but it is only going to be optional so more students will feel more comfortable to participate. We're currently discussing if we should have separate winners solely based on costumes, and then separate winners based on performance. Any questions or comments? Leave one in the comment box! =) And remember to watch our video!
HR and Class Rep Elections!
Hey everyone, Homeroom and Class Rep elections are coming up! If you signed up, you will get a page with instructions on them in homeroom tomorrow with the same instructions listed below:
Congratulations- you are a HR rep candidate! Elections are this Wednesday, 9/28/11, and here is what you need to do:
1.
Prepare a 30 second (min) - 1 minute (max) “mini-speech”/response to your HR as to why You want to be part of Student Council. You can present on either Tuesday or Wednesday (right before your HR receives the ballots).
2.
The results will be posted on the mezzanine bulletin board Thursday morning.
3.
The HR reps that won, and also indicated when they signed up that they want to be candidates for Class Rep, will be elected on new ballots on Monday morning (10/3) in homeroom.
4.
It is the job of the Class rep candidates to visit the other two HR’s in their grade by Friday morning to give the same “mini-speech”. (If you are not sure if you are a candidate for class rep, ask your HR teacher).
5.
By Tuesday morning all the winners will be announced! The new members will attend a full Student Council meeting that Thursday in room 303!
Reminder: There are only two HR reps per homeroom and there is only one Class Rep per grade. In order to be a Class Rep, you must be elected first as a HR rep. Any questions, please e-mail student council at ndstudents2010@gmail.com, visit our blog ndstudentcouncil.blogspot.com, or stop any of the E-Board members in the hallway! Good luck! =)
